This interesting town lies on the route from eastern Botswana into the Kalahari and on to Makgadikgadi, the Boteti River, Maun and the game regions beyond.
Most travellers pass it by, but it deserves more than a fleeting stop.
Your first call should be to the Khama III Memorial Museum, located in the old "Red House", a splendid Victorian building beautifully restored with the assistance of Danish aid.

Next to it is the Phineas McIntosh House.
McIntosh, a white man, was flogged at the command of the Regent, Tsekedi Khama, in an incident that shocked the 1933 Bechuanaland establishment and brought Marines from Cape Town by rail to "apply discipline".

The Royal Cemetery, which contains the grave of the country's first president Sir Seretse Khama, and the Serowe Kgotla, are also well worth a visit.
There is only one hotel in Serowe.
