The Khama Rhino Sanctuary lies 29 km north of Serowe on the Orapa road in the central district of Botswana.
The project, sustained by a community trust established in 1992, is dedicated to the safeguarding and breeding of some of Botswana's last rhinos - the rhino population was in danger of being poached out.

At the moment, it conserves a small group of three black rhino and the largest herd of white rhino in the country.
It is situated on 4,300 ha of Kalahari sandveld and a Serwe Pan, a large calcrete depression, lies in the centre of the reserve.

All the campsites and other accomodation are situated in stands of mongongo trees, which provide privacy and shade.
