This area is well known as the main entry point for Chobe National Park, but there is more to these two small villages than Chobe.

Slightly downstream of Mowana Safari Lodge, on the Chobe River, are the Chobe Rapids.
A footpath leads through the glorious riverine vegetation and giant trees, which you can reach either by turning left along the river in front of Mowana Lodge or by locating the track to the east of Mowana's entrance gate.

Another place worth a visit is Commissioners Kop.
Access to the summit is via a short walk up a 4x4 vehicle track at the downstream end of the rapids.

This track takes you to the top of the low eminence.
There are wonderful views from the summit.

A little-known (but worthy) venue in the Kasane area is a Crocodile Farm, in the village of Kazungula.
The farm lies 200-300 m from the entrance to Kubu Lodge.
It is interesting to go down to where the Zambezi ferry is berthed and watch the activities there.
The place is on the main road linking Botswana and Zambia.

Unfortunately, you will have to go through border formalities, but usually these involve just leaving your passport.
However, it's certainly worth the trouble,

A hundred metres or so downstream is the spot where David Livingstone crossed the Zambezi River.
A "sausage" tree used to mark the exact crossing, but this was burnt down about thirty years ago.
A combined road/rail bridge will soon span the river.
